Commissions & Testimonials
I'd like art customized for me.....
Did you know that you can have a piece of work created
specifically for you? It'll be to your specifications, a stand out from what is
offered on the High Street! This is known as commissioning.
With commissioning, you don't just end up with something
that is unique to you, but you also become part of the design process. (Caveat: a part of the initial design process. I'm still the artist!) lol
Thinking about commissioning?
Commissioning work should be fun and enjoyable. Where to start?
When you are thinking about commissioning, start by
understanding what kind of work you really like, and what the context for the
piece is. Do you prefer a particular style? Who or what is the work
for? Is it for you? Is it for your home? Is it a gift?
The next best thing to do is to put your thoughts down on
paper. This will help crystalize your thinking and becomes the starting point
for what is known as a brief. You can use this when discussing the
commission with the artist or maker.
Testimonial
Joel, an art client, recently commissioned this
piece. He wanted a "majestic stag" painting, and wanted it done
in the encaustic wax medium.
“I had the most extraordinary experience when I commissioned
a piece of custom art with Darren. He took great care in listening to my
vision from colors, style, overall theme as well as some thoughtful details
that were in remembrance of my father and brother. From there, I was thrilled
to turn it over to Darren and his creativity. The end result is so much
more spectacular than I could have imagined and it will forever have a special
place in my home! THANK YOU Darren!”

Testimonial
Mike & Mary, art clients, recently commissioned this
piece. They wanted something representative of their life passions and pursuits.
"What’s great about Darren’s artwork is the depth and detail that he
weaves into it, telling a personal story in creative and unexpected
ways. From a distance, it stands on its own as an impressive piece of
abstract art. But as you look more closely,
those details reveal themselves and you find yourself being drawn in,
to learn more. It’s a great conversation piece for our home."

piece. she wanted a version of the Stone Arch Bridge photo I took last winter.....
Testimony coming.
"I commissioned Darren to create a piece for me that I could display in my office. I had recently started a new job, and wanted something that spoke to some of the qualities I hoped to bring to the position: innovation, creativity, and -building. What Darren created speaks to all those qualities. And the more I look at the piece, the more I realize how it also speaks to the every day work required to forge ahead with new relationships and new workflows. Looking at the piece now me a sense of hope during some of those more challenging days on the job!"
